Jamie, a Female Basketball Player

Jamie posed this morning at our drawing/painting group in her University of Tennessee basketball uniform. There is always something intriguing about every model. For me it was this model's eyes. I really liked the shadows underneath them and their shape.

Best Friends

The second day of the Arnold Expo was a long one. Artists were required to be 'on stage' all day and we were to work on the piece we started the first day or start another one. I had a wonderful photograph of Allia and Janea, who are best friends in the WGP Spirit group that was competing over the weekend. The trouble was I didn't have a canvas with me so I decided to use charcoal and do a drawing. The drawing turned out great- both girls look happy and I wish one of the others would have purchased it, BUT although they loved it they could not afford to.

This is basically a three color drawing: black soft charcoal, with white conte and a cool gray conte crayon for accents.

Abby in 90 Minutes

This is a pastel painting of Abby that I completed in one painting session at my Saturday morning group. Abby was a great model who held her pose perfectly. I was extremely happy with this as I hadn't had my pastels out in 9-10 months and I wasn't sure if I remembered how to use them.

Lee from our Saturday group

I was a little late so this is just three 20 minute sessions. I had already painted Lee once so that helped me with getting the drawing down quickly. I admit to taking a few years off the guy. I just didn't have time to get detailed enough to do wrinkles. This is a pastel life size about 20 x 22.
