Thomas Eakins- copy of a lesser known painting

I am hosting the Master of the Month at http://wetcanvas.com in the oils forum for the months of March and April. As a host you do research on the painter's background and methods. I have copied two of his paintings now and this one was by far easier than the portrait. I don't think it's ever easy to copy a master but the artist inevitably learns a lot by doing it. Next month I am going to choose a female painter- they have been under-represented. Perhaps Cecelia Beaux... not sure yet. (This a copy of a portion of the painting. The actual painting is larger, but I was feeling lazy.)

The painting was unusual for the era (;late 1800s) because it showed a baby engaged in intellectual play instead of just sitting and holding a doll.
