Test of Faith
16" x 20" oil on wooden panel. Sold the day after I finished it- one of my fastest sales ever! You either like this piece or you hate it I think. People who enjoy edgy wild stuff- and I do paint that way once in awhile- may not connect with the quiet solemn stare of this girl.
Rod the Mountain Man
Man Overboard or Winter Fun or Snow Day-- not sure of the title
All I know is I have sold it already to a private collector who asked if she could buy it as soon as she saw it. I like it too. It;' a watercolor and I don't do too many watercolors but i have a cold this week and the turps really bother me when I am congested.
Oak Openings
My Friend Bob
I had been thinking about Bob a lot lately. He passed away in 2002 and I still miss him. He was one of the first people who encouraged me to keep painting when I started in 2000. I painted this from a charcoal drawing I had completed from life of him shortly before he got really sick and a photo I took that day. He never met a stranger, and Bob Willingham was a spiritual leader in his church and an absolutely hilarious guy. He never complained and he never had a bad word to say about anyone.
I have been lax on posting but I have been busy painting!
This is Joe Paterno from a photo taken early in his career with Penn State. If I had to guess I would say he was about 50. I used an old black and white newspaper photo and made some changes while incorporating imagined color. I can't believe this guy is 80 years old and still able to coach. Lots of people have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning when they get to be that age, let alone holding down a demanding job.
